Plenty

Plenty was painted onto two canvases that hang side by side and inspired by a trip I was lucky to go on up through the Northern Territory, but in particular the rock art I saw at Jabiru and its surrounding wetlands and waterways. I blended this creation from that experience with some local flavour by adding the eels which where also such an important food source for our local Aboriginal people and still are today, and also adding my Great Grandmothers totem the long necked turtle representing Yorta Yorta Country, where she was born.

Was $3,000 - Now $2,750 due to very small blemish.

Mother Earth

Was inspired by my realisation that everything is connected. The sun, the stars, the earth. The story is about how Mother Earth controls the rains, the landscapes, the rivers, the oceans, people’s journeys and animals and people living together in harmony. She is powerful, she surrounds us with her energy and light, she is our environment and the core of our universe. She is also guided by her spirit people. See if you can find them in the picture.

Because Of Her We Can!

Inspired by the 2018 NAIDOC week theme Because of her, we can! This is a poem that describes this piece.

Because of her, we can!
Like the Dreamtime, she creates life,
- she is powerful
Like Mother Nature, she beholds beauty,
- she is healing
Like the tall tree standing strong, her roots the foundation to family,
- she is strength
Like the wildflowers, she gives us the confidence to grow,
- she is guidance
Like a river, she flows through our veins
- she is connection
Like the bush foods, she nourishes our soul
- she is nurturing
Like the rain, she showers us with her skills,
- she is knowledge
Like the seasons, the land and animals, she teaches us to adapt to change
- she is courage
Like the rays of the sun touching country,
- she is the light in our lives
Like the special people in our journeys, she leaves her footprint on our hearts
- she is love
Because of her, we can!

Hope

  • The star represents the paper stars that are currently being made by community groups around the world as part of the 'One Million Stars To End Violence' project. These stars will be collated and displayed in the 2018 Commonwealth Games as a global symbol against violence.
  • The hands represent the physical aspect of violence and the damage they can cause physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
  • The kneeling people represent the broken spirit of the victims of violence.
  • Bunjil the eagle is well known for its exceptional eyesight and it represents children witnessing violence
  • The fire represents the trauma created from being exposed to or being a victim of violence.
  • The boomerangs represent the cycle or pattern of violence that keeps coming back through generations.
  • The people inside the star represent a visible wave of people working together to make a difference.
  • The candlelight inside the people represents the burning desire and passion inside these people to make a change.
  • The black and white patterns represent different cultures collaborting, like a woven basket our combined efforts intertwine to become stronger together.
  • The waves of energy coming from the star points nurture seeds within it to create a change of thinking for our future generations.
  • The light in the middle of the star represents hope. Hope that we can one day put an end to violence.

Windows Of Opportunity

The coming together of men and women for community and business decisions to plant seeds for the future.

These decisions create windows of opportunities for community, employees, programs, services and innovation for everyone to benefit from. The light within the windows represent creating a bright future.

Throughout this process pillars of strength are created that help hold and protect communities needs and the organisations interests into the future.

Some opportunities may tread water for a while and some may be put into action and set the wheels in motion.

Over-time repectful relationships are built and this keeps networks and friendships coming back like boomerangs throughout generations.
